Thousands of comments and millions of visitors every year, yet this blog doesn’t pay as much as a part-time minimum-wage job. Which is hard to imagine when some of the biggest names in the world advertise here: shoe companies, car companies, presidential candidates, seriously.

A blog like this doesn’t appear out of thin air. There’s demanding PHP, CSS and MySQL code involved, sophisticated web hosting, and I do it all myself. This takes time.

Valuable time. I’m going to keep Ferodynamics online but this is it. I’m out on a limb. Maybe I’ll get more links from more websites. Maybe I’ll get millions more visitors. Maybe people will pay more to advertise here. But for now it’s a hobby.

Happy Mothers Day!

Hi Eileen. I’ve never seen your comments, they were probably moderated by Wordpress. I never looked to see if I was ranked for a particular phrase, but I figure I’m ranked for all kinds of obscure Myspace stuff.

Years ago I noticed an Australian guy catching many misspellings by publishing his stats, then I realized there’s an infinite number ways to phrase something. So that idea evolved and I devised a way to attach recent search phrases to corresponding WP posts. Often the searches didn’t match with the content, that bothered me at first but it was useful information, leading the blog in new directions. I always figured there would be people like you researching the data. Maybe you’re the first to come forward. Yes the point was to do something new and interesting, that’s the artist in me.

It’s a custom WP plugin, I had to teach myself MySQL to make it work. After my first post about Myspace tracking it really took off and programmers and newspaper reporters contacted me. That post was actually a homework assignment for a seminar in “Magazine Article Writing”.

Eventually I found the comments more interesting than the searches and stopped publishing the searches for each post. I also realized this Myspace generation has no concept of “on topic”, they comment whatever they want wherever they are: Ferodynamics, BusinessWeek, CNN, it’s all the same to them. So I changed the design here to be less topic-oriented and worked to make leaving comments fun.

I am sad to see you go.

You were my example of keyword stuffing.
It was elegant.
At first I thought it was funny, then for a while it bugged me, then I realized it had no effect on me at all (because when the content was not found on your site, they would just move onto the next site in the list).

Seriously,
Some of your articles were actually interesting.
Had you not used major keyword stuffing to attract traffic for content you did not cover, I might not have found them.

So while I found your techniques unethical they were also interesting.

It was as if you had followed the “Do not Do to boost your google rankings” guide, but yet succeeded in making such techniques work for you.

As far as profit goes, yes, you can make more picking up cans and turning them in for the 5 cents deposit.

I am sure you will not post this comment, as you never post my comments.

But I do wish you luck.
