OK, I jumped the gun. Last night I received this message on Myspace:

Hello, I was wondering if you could tell me how to view a blocked friendslist?

I didn’t think I could help. Turns out I can. Here’s the scenario: Your profile isn’t set to private, and you’re using a theme/style that hides your friends list. How you hide your friends list, I’ll save that info for another day.

So what’s going on?

When you apply a style/theme to your page that “hides” information, it’s actually still coded into the page, you just can’t see it. There’s two ways to “see” this hidden info. The most obvious (and more difficult) way to do this if you’re in Firefox, click View/Page Source. This shows you everything, all the XHTML and CSS, all the code, very difficult to read.

The easy way? (in Firefox) Click View/Page Style/No Style. This shows your page naked, without a layout. So if you’re on a page and the person has hidden their friends list, you can turn off the page’s style and you can see all their friends. Pretty simple, right?
