Microsoft Facebook Hookup

The New York Times reports that Microsoft will manage the ads for Facebook. Facebook doesn’t interest me much but it’s nice to see adCenter play catch up with AdSense.

AdSense generated revenues of $997 million in the second quarter of 2006. So publishers like me make Google about $4 billion/year. A larger portion of that will move to publishers’ pockets as competition heats up with adCenter, YPN, Text-Link-Ads, and Federated Media.

Update: I wrote this two years ago. Text-Link-Ads and Federated Media continue to grow, thumbs up. I was wrong about YPN and adCenter catching up, they’re barely relevant, two years later!
