Investigating Truthbox
To understand truthboxes you need to think like a programmer. I will attempt to explain how programmers think in plain English.
A truthbox programmer needs to use an “API” to write an app for Myspace. Truthbox is an app (application) for Myspace. The web browser you’re using right now is an application too, right now it’s using an API to talk to your computer’s operating system. An operating system is Windows, Linux, or whatever you have.
An easier way to think of an API: It’s like the rules of a game you like to play. For a programmer to make an app for Myspace, he or she must follow the rules of the game. These rules help the programmer get information into and out of Myspace, to make the program do fun stuff.
So the first thing we need to know before we jump to any conclusions, before we go any further in this investigation: Does a programmer using the Myspace API have access to the identity of a user of an application? In other words: Does the programmer have access to any data that might reveal who the person is leaving you “anonymous” messages? I don’t know for sure, but I would say: Yes, that is very likely!
Myspace is a social network. It seems to me common sense: Applications for social networks need to be social enough to share information about the people using them.
But there’s no point guessing, right? We can find the answer because Myspace publishes the API specification (rules) for us to write Myspace apps. If the API wasn’t published we couldn’t make apps for Myspace.
So to find the answer we need to study the API.
Update: I just found this, Myspace architect explains app strategy:
Apps will never have access to information that cannot be found on any member’s profile page.
That doesn’t rule out display names though, or IPs.

basicalu jus log in enit or phir up ne dekhna kese hum kare ge. jab pyarr kiya tho darna kya. oh jub pyaar kiya tho darna kya! haha na oioi bebo ishh my ickle wickle pickleyy sickleyy mateyy hehe && so in luvvvvvv wid gyals like you and bwoiis like HAWTT* hehe x mwah luv yahhzs.noff lovage baybe boii mwah xxxxxx

still nothing on the finding who said what on the truthbox?
her facebook is tinadube@hotmail.com.. I am asking her to marry me so I need her pas asap
No.
Or at least that is unknown.
so….. pleaseee be specific .. is there any way in which i can find out who exactly is leaving these messages?
no no no no
oh and i snuck around the page source and there looks like a couple of places that are using hexidecimal as id to hide the actual coding BUT one thing i realized was the ip address changes every time you log onto the internet so even if you did find the ip you would have to be super lucky to get to the persons id before they log off and log back on and their ip changes
well is api a coding that is visible or a possibility of getting to or is it like embedded into the application itself without any chance of decoding?
plus correct me if im wrong but doesn’t your ip address get inputted in coding when you comment someone? cause if it does then would there be a way to track ip addresses?
and also there is a giant similarity in this and facebook’s anonymous comments and from what a research said, if you delete your account your identity is revealed so what if there is a way of creating a code that would trick the truth box into thinking everyone who commented you personally deleted their accounts?
Jean, from my understanding “hidden comments” is not a feature coded into Myspace, it’s more of a CSS hack.
CSS is for changing the visual look of a page on the surface. Under that surface all the data stays the same.
plus to add to the fact that they said “Apps will never have access to information that cannot be found on any member’s profile page.” its super easy to view hidden comments( the normal ones) that aren’t shown on certain peoples pages which makes me wonder that if thats possible then why isn’t revealing identity from hidden comments possible?
There’s more than one truthbox app for Myspace. Which one are you talking about?
so basically, i would LOVE to know straight up. YES or NO, can you find out who wrote the truth box messages?
